Log In Credentials Security

  • Keep Login ID and Password allotted to you confidential and do not disclose it to anybody.
  • Change your Password as soon as you receive it by logging into your Netbanking account.
  • Always type your confidential Log In Credentials/Account Information. Do not Copy Paste it.
  • Do not provide Login Id and Passwords on any page that appears as a popup when you click on a hyperlink received through email. Better practice would be to log on to the service by typing in the URL in the address bar after making sure the page opening up is from the genuine service provider.
  • Do not store passwords in a file on ANY computer system (including Palm Pilots or similar devices) without encryption.
  • Your password should be complex and difficult for others to guess. Use letters, numbers and special characters. These increase the security of the passwords.
  • Try to avoid passwords that are obvious, like your name/ nickname, names of family members, your address, phone number or any other information and always use cryptic words as passwords
  • Do not let your computer remember your password. If your Login ID and Password appear automatically on the login page of NetBanking webpage, you should disable "Auto Complete" feature on your browser. To disable auto complete feature:
    1. Open Internet Explorer, Click on Tools=> Internet Options=> Content.
    2. Click on "Auto Complete", under "Personal Information"
    3. Uncheck "User names and passwords on forms", click on "Clear Passwords"
    4. Click "OK"
  • Use virtual keyboard feature while logging into your internet banking account.
  • As far as possible do not use un-trusted system to access a sensitive service. If you must, change the password on the first occasion immediately thereafter from a trusted system
  • Change your Net Banking Login Password & Transaction Password at periodical intervals.
Net Banking Security Tips

  • Netbanking site should be visited through the Bank’s home page by typing the bank's website address (www.svcbank.com) on to the browser's address bar.
  • Do not click on any links in any e-mail message to access the site.
  • The authenticity of the Bank's Netbanking webpage should be done by checking its URL as "https://netbanking.svcbank.co.in" .
  • URL address on the address bar of your internet browser begins with "https"; the letter 's' at the end of "https" means 'secured'.
  • Look for the PAD Lock symbol either in the address bar or the status bar (mostly in the address bar) but not within the web page display area before you enter your Login ID and Password.
  • Secured Socket Layer (SSL) Certification- Verify the security certificate by clicking on the padlock. This opens up a new window, displaying the SSL certificate information. Ensure that there is no red cross mark preceding the title 'Certificate Information'. It should also be 'Issued to: "https://netbanking.svcbank.co.in".
  • Always check the Last Log-in Date and Time on the top right hand corner to monitor any unauthorised logins.
  • Monitor your transactions regularly.
  • Avoid accessing Net banking accounts from cyber cafes or shared PCs.
  • Always logout when you exit NetBanking. Do not directly close the browser
Computer Security

We recommend all customers to have regularly updated software with anti-virus, anti-spyware, anti-spam and firewall capabilities installed on their computers

  • Install anti-virus, anti-spyware and firewall software on your computer.
  • Ensure that this software is kept up to date and install any updates immediately.
  • Allow a regular scan of your computer using anti-virus and anti-spyware software – to do this follow the instructions from your software provider.
  • Consider using a SPAM filtering product which will help block fake or virus-related emails.
  • Ensure your computer has the latest security updates applied. Vendors regularly release these updates as ‘patches’.
You can usually download these for free from the vendor’s website. This will help protect your computer from viruses, worms and trojans. These are malicious programs, often carried in something that looks harmless such as an email or game, but in fact can contain a program that allows an intruder to access your computer without your knowledge.

For more specific information about how to protect your computer, please visit the Microsoft® Security & Privacy site

Phishing attacks
  • Phishing is a fraudulent attempt, usually made through email, phone calls, SMS etc seeking your personal and confidential information.
  • The Shamrao Vithal Co-op Bank or any of its representative never sends you email/SMS or calls you over phone to get your personal information, Login ID or Password (Login/Transaction Password) . Any such e-mail/SMS or phone call is an attempt to fraudulently withdraw money from your account through Internet Banking. NEVER RESPOND to such email/SMS or phone call. Please report immediately on netbanking@svcbank.com if you receive any such email/SMS or Phone call. Immediately change your passwords if you have accidentally revealed your credentials.
  • Do not be lured if you receive an e-mail/SMS/phone call promising reward for providing your personal information or for updating your account details in the bank site.
Online Shopping/Payments
  • Always shop or make payments through trusted / reputed websites and bookmark those sites if you use them regularly.
  • Ensure that the URL of the website is correct by verifying it in the address bar of your computer browser.
  • Do not click on links in emails or on referral websites to visit the online shopping site. Always type the URL in the address bar of the browser to visit the website.
  • Do not enter your confidential Login Credentials / account information on any pop-up windows.
  • Check for PAD LOCK symbol on the webpage before furnishing your Login Credentials to make payments.
  • Make note of the transaction IDs for future reference incase of disputes.
  • Check your account statements regularly and bring any fraudulent transaction to the notice of Bank.
